I’ve worked with Robert for 20 years now. He is, quite simply, the best supplier I have ever had in my 48 year history of starting and running small businesses and other enterprises.

In my opinion the qualities needed in a supplier include: consistency, honesty, straight-forwardness, reliability, willingness, careful listening, high intelligence, high level of competence in chosen subject, ability to recognise personal knowledge limitations (if any), sense of humour, hard-work, an aversion to bull-shit, unflappability, fairness, self-motivation, identification with the customer, the absence of out-of-awareness irritants, sociability, ability to keep in touch appropriately and a tirelessly helpful attitude.  Robert has all these qualities and I’ve rarely, if ever, come across any other supplier who manages to have them all at once. In my experience he has zero defects in his professional life and he’s one of the very few suppliers I’ve ever come across, if not the only one, about whom I can say that.

NB If you can think of the correct word for “the absence of out-of-awareness irritants” I will pay you an extra 50p + VAT on your next bill. In psychotherapy circles we usually refer to people’s shit, or, on good days, their issues, but neither of those words quite fit in this context, do they?!
